PGA Tour and European tour… Two tournaments. Two deserts.

This week the PGA Tour heads to the mainland while the European Tour heads to the Middle East. The PGA Tour makes it’s stop at PGA West in La Quinta, California for its 60th Desert Classic. The European Tour marks it’s first stop on the Rolex Series in Abu Dhabi at the Abu Dhabi GC for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

Phil Mickelson, Justin Rose, and defending champion Jon Rahm, headline the tournament once known as the Bob Hope Desert Classic. PGA West will give it’s usual Pete “Dye’abolica” Dye test it’s known for. The bunkers, elevated greens, and abundance of desert water will make Rahm’s title defense a difficult one.

The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship draws some of the strongest fields on tour European Tour. Defending champion, Tommy “Golf Jesus” Fleetwood will try to defend his title against Dustin Johnson, and last year’s two-time major champion, Brooks Koepka. 15 of the top 50 players in the World Golf Ranking’s will tee it up. “I think it is one of the strongest events on tour and it so deserves its place on the Rolex Series and I know this will be a popular decision amongst the players,” said Fleetwood.
